The Dr Pepper Collection
Owners Sharolyn and Jay Wagner are pleased to share their collection of over 2,000 Dr Pepper antiques and memorabilia! It is the third largest public display in the world, next to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, TX, and Dublin Bottling Works of Dublin, TX.
A frequently asked question we hear at The Linger Longer is, "Why Dr Pepper?" It all began when Sharolyn and Jay were "poor college students" (Rock Chalk!). They had only been dating a couple of weeks before Jay's birthday. Sharolyn was already well aware of his "addiction," so a six-pack of Dr Pepper was in order! Soon after, she purchased a large Dr Pepper flavored lip gloss...and romance blossomed. (Although it wasn't due to the lip gloss as Jay didn't like it much. In fact, there's still some left!)
Over the years, Sharolyn continued to collect Dr Pepper items for anniversary and holiday gifts. When the couple decided to restore the old, abandoned drugstore in Bennington, they figured it would be a great place to display their collection since they were running out of room at home. They also began to look for more unusual Dr Pepper memorabilia, such as paper dolls, guitars, marbles, tennis shoes, a 10 cent machine, p.j.'s, and much more.
Searching for Jay's addiction has become an addiction in itself! If you have an item you can bare to part with, please call Sharolyn! And if you can't part with it, she will still be happy to value it for you.
